There’s something incredibly powerful about witnessing a couple recommit to each other—not at the start of their journey, but deep into it.
Amanda and Ian reached out just before leaving Kodiak for their next Coast Guard station in Michigan. They wanted to celebrate 10 years of marriage with a vow renewal shoot that captured the joy, chaos, and love they’ve shared over the past decade—and I’m so honored I got to document it.
We went up to the top of Pillar Mountain, where the wind whipped around us, the dogs chased each other (and occasionally us), and the sunset painted everything in gold. The first half of the session was delightfully chaotic thanks to their pups, but once they settled in, there was a stillness in the way Amanda and Ian looked at each other—like ten years in, they’ve only grown more in sync.
There was so much laughter, a lot of hair blowing in every direction, and an undeniable energy between them that felt like adventure, respect, and deep admiration all wrapped together. These two have built a life filled with service, love, and spontaneous joy—and this sunset moment on top of the world was such a perfect way to mark the start of their next chapter.
To Amanda and Ian: thank you for letting me be part of this milestone. Michigan is lucky to have you.

These are truly AMAZING! Wow! You are just so gifted and we are so thrilled we could work with you before we left Kodiak! These are such a gift to have to remember our time in AK.
